We were given this article to evaluate for Current Events this week.
The main point behind the article was the difficulties behind passing a national health care policy reformation. It mostly covered the history of health care reform from Clinton’s attempt in 1993. It seems to show some form of leaning towards the left, as it appears sympathetic to the Democrats and critical to the Republicans and the GOP.

Crash victim refused by 14 hospitals dies.

Our health care may be terrible, but at least we aren’t having this problem. It’s sad that this happens and does raise the question of what can be done. Here in America, it’s fairly difficult for the average citizen to influence Japanese health care and hospital conditions, but this is a major problem. Sadly, the moral of the story, for now, seems to be: Never get injured in Japan. If you do, you may as well ask the nearest person for medical treatment, since it seems like being accepted in to a hospital isn’t too likely.
